Ricky Kuntemeyer

Head Coach | Co-Founder

Ricky’s love for fitness and training began in high school as a football player. He decided to grow his passion for fitness by pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Exercise Science at Azusa Pacific University, while working as an athletic trainer, football coach and personal trainer.

Ricky has over 9 years of personal training and coaching experience, with his #1 goal being to help as many people as he can to live healthier, happier and fuller lives. His training philosophy is based upon the idea of consistency over time, with discipline and hard work outweighing momentary motivation. Ricky has experience working with all individuals of all ages, fitness levels and backgrounds, and believes there is a fitness option for everyone.

Ricky has his B.S. in Applied Exercise Science (AES), is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), and is currently studying to become a NASM Certified Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES).

Hannah Kuntemeyer

Operations + marketing | nutrition coach | co-founder

Hannah’s fitness journey began after moving back home to Oahu after college. As a former dancer and cheerleader, Hannah sought fitness to fill a void in her life and to return to regular physical activity. Weight training and fitness radically changed her life and sparked a desire to help others experience the same transformational power of fitness.

Growing up in a family of entrepreneurs, Hannah knew that she wanted to use her education to start her own business and serve her community through it. Hannah has a special passion for cooking and creating healthy meals that actually taste good, and through it has launched Mean Training’s meal prepping and nutrition coaching services. Hannah has 4 years of personal training and coaching experience.

Hannah has her B.A. in Business Management and is an ISSA Certified Nutrition Coach (CNC) and ISSA Certified Personal Trainer (CPT). She is also an United States Powerlifting Association Certified Official.

April Nakamura-Weatherwax

Fitness + nutrition coach

For most of her life, April struggled with managing her weight and building a healthy relationship with nutrition and exercise. As a newcomer at standard corporate gyms, she felt intimidated, overwhelmed and ill-prepared. Without a plan in place or guidance, she’d quickly become discouraged and burnt out, resulting in reverting back to square one.

In 2019, April began training with Hannah and Ricky as a client through a corporate wellness program. This journey was an eye-opening experience that showed April what a healthy relationship with fitness could be like, and modeled how to genuinely enjoy movement and build self-confidence. Over the course of her fitness journey, she built strength, endurance and stamina physically, but the true transformation came from the butterfly effect that fitness has had in her life. As her fitness improved, she noticed other areas of her life improving as well, including nutrition, mindfulness and overall wellness.

April’s journey unlocked a passion within her to help other people with similar struggles experience the transformational power of fitness, just like she has. April is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) and is a NASM Certified Nutrition Coach (CNC).

Fun Facts: April is an incredible artist and textile designer. Her secret superpower is creating healthy, protein-packed and delicious vegan recipes. She loves DnD, gaming & her two cats, Goku and Popo.

Chris Naffziger

Fitness + Nutrition Coach In Training

For over twenty years, Chris bounced around from program to program but could never really find a sustainable solution for his fitness goals. He would experience spurts of success and progress, but inevitably would regress for a variety of reasons. After decades of trying to "DIY" his own physical health, he decided he NEEDED help and guidance. A co-worker recommended Mean Training and that was the moment everything changed.

Chris began working on his fitness from home, using his own basic equipment: adjustable dumbbells, weight bench, and a pull up bar. Over the 18 months he made incredible progress. SUSTAINABLE progress. While putting in hard work on his physique, he reached out for nutrition coaching as well. This made a huge difference and unlocked even more gains as he was able to not only dial in his resistance training, but his nutrition plan as well.

Unsatisfied with his job in sales, he reached out to Mean Training for guidance as he was considering becoming a fitness coach. Things moved fast, and now Chris has completed his certification as a NASM Certified Personal Trainer (CPT). He is currently working on completing his NASM Certified Nutrition Coach (CNC) certification as well.

Fun Facts: Chris is a former Peace Corps Volunteer in Burkina Faso and is an avid traveler. He has spent time in over 40 countries. Also, he spent a gap year traveling the United States living in a rooftop tent above his beloved Nissan Xterra. During this year he covered 30,000 miles across 35 states, visiting over 30 National Parks. In Hawaii, he enjoys spending time with his wife, playing with his puppy Lily, and enjoying quiet mornings with coffee and a good book before his daily workout.
